TRANSPORTATION

Here’s what you need to know about transportation for No Kings Madison WI

There’s a lot going on in Madison on Oct. 18. Regardless of your destination or means of transportation, you should allow for more time to get there.

If you’re coming by car to McPike Park…

  • Street parking near the park is limited.
  • The South Livingston Street Garage is about a 10-minute walk away from the park. For information, go to https://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/garages-lots/south-livingston-street-garage There are 12 ADA parking spaces at the west corner of the garage (corner of S. Livingston St. and E. Main St.).

If you’re coming by car directly to the Capitol…

  • There are several parking garages in downtown Madison. For information, go to https://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/garages-lots
  •  At https://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/garages-lots/current-hourly-parking-availability, you can find out the number of vacant stalls available at several locations. The city recommends that you refresh this page frequently for the most up-to-date vacant stall counts. They warn that the counts are approximate and can fluctuate quickly.
  • Parking spaces for persons with disabilities are available on the ground floor of all City parking garages. You can download a brochure and map about Parking for Persons with Disabilities. More information is available at https://www.cityofmadison.com/parking/accessibility

We recommend that you use BRT – Madison Metro’s Bus Rapid Transit.

Buses on Metro Rapid Route A run every 15 minutes. You can get near McPike Park – about a 10-minute walk away – or take the bus straight to the Capitol. An added benefit is that you can return to your parked car directly from the Capitol without having to stop at the park again.

Rapid Route A runs east/west between the Sun Prairie Park & Ride and the parking lot on Junction Rd. For information about Park & Ride, go to https://www.cityofmadison.com/metro/how-to-ride/park-ride-lots You can park your car at either end of the route, or you can board at stations starting at East Springs Dr. on the east side all the way to the west end of the route. You actually could park your car anywhere along the way and catch the bus.

For McPike Park, exit at the stop on E. Washington Ave at S. Baldwin St. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the park from there.

To go directly to the Capitol,

  • If you’re traveling east/west, exit at the Capitol Square stop at E. Mifflin St. Then walk around the Capitol to King St.
  • If you’re traveling west/east, exit at the Capitol Square stop at W. Main St. Then walk around the Capitol to King St.
