History is trying to teach us a lesson.
During Hitler's rise to power, extrajudicial police were used to impede on voting.
The Storm Detachment (SA, Brownshirts) were used to intimidate voters at the ballot box.
Officers also intimidated legislators into voting in favor of Hitler's policies.
"SA and SS soldiers patrol the streets, pushing people into the polling stations. A number of delegates from the Left are arrested... While preserving the semblance of legality, the act essentially transfers state power to Hitler"
In the United States, military police were used for the largest internment effort ever on US soil.
What do we learn from history?
We can't let normalization of extrajudicial police happen.
When executive overreach and policing like ICE or the National Guard is ignored, it is allowed to grow.
The sooner we can stop them, the better off we are.
They'll become entrenched in every part of life. If you're not targeted yet, you will be. The time to stop them is now.
Progress is multi-modal and requires everyone (including you) to help.

What is Badger Collective doing?
To combat normalization, we sounded the bell when troops entered Chicago.
Hands Off Chicago demonstrations gave some of our Wisconsin partners the opportunity to regroup, assess messaging, and learn more.
To fight back, we're building the plan (with others) for you.
We're building new partnerships and making plans to stop state violence before it gets out of hand, however, we need you to stay in the loop.
We need YOU on our team.
Volunteers are great - be a peacekeeper or flyer a restaurant. Warm bodies are good, too! Donations help the mission, sharing info is powerful too.
No matter what your role is - you probably have no good excuse to sit this one out.

Why a text line?
We're building infrastructure so that we can fight back hard.
Time will start to matter.
As our movement builds, we need a quicker way to mobilize people - one rally every three months won't cut it.
Coordination improves.
Text notifications are easier to read and share, helping word to spread in a decentralized way.
Texts can't be censored.
Oligarch-backed Meta and ByteDance aren't going to always show you where to get involved, but text can.
This is the fertilizer to our grassroots action.
